THE VIRGINIA BUDGET:
DEMOCRATS CONTINUE THEIR WAR
|
- THE VIRGINIA HOUSE AND SENATE BUDGET COMMITTEES FAIL ON BUDGET AGREEMENT
- THE COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA GOVERNMENT (CONTROLLED BY THE DEMOCRATS) WILL SHUT DOWN WITHOUT AN APPROVED BUDGET ON JULY 1 AT MIDNIGHT.
| | |
The Democrats’ civil war in Richmond continues between State Senate President pro tempore Louise Lucas and both the Speaker of the House of Delegates Don Scott and Governor Abigail Spanberger over the Virginia budget. (Previous fights over retail cannabis; the defamation lawsuit here and Spanberger thinking there is a bias against her for being a woman).
In the budget fight, Lucas wants to break the existing tax incentive agreements between the state government and data center companies to cover the projected $1.5 billion revenue gap.
However, Spanberger, whom Lucas calls the “Data Center Diva”, and Speaker Scott nicknamed “Amazon Don”, believe (and so do we) that breaking long-term existing contracts with Virginia’s business community is not a way to retain the Commonwealth’s reputation as a good location for economic growth.
Read more about the budget battle from The Jefferson Forum on “A Revenue Reforecast is Not A Blank Check” and “Virginia is Careening Towards a Government Shutdown”.
Watch this space as we get closer to a state government shutdown (You might want to handle that DMV issue ASAP).
| | BUDGET SHORTFALL, BUT $3.6 MILLION FOR DEI | | |
As you read above, the Democrats are scrambling to fill the budget gap from reduced revenue and increased spending. Guess what’s not getting cut? Virginia’s funding of $3.6 million for diversity, equity and inclusion wasn’t touched.
As reported in the Daily Caller, the Virginia DEI budget “is larger than the annual budget for “Governmental Affairs Services” and “Intergovernmental Relations” in the governor’s office. It is also larger than the funding for “Personnel Management Services” for the attorney general’s Department of Law, adjudication training in the state Supreme Court, “Emergencies Prevention and Response” at the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and the entire budget for a legislative commission tasked with recommending policies related to Virginia’s youth.”
A progressive champion, Virginia’s Chief Diversity Officer Dr Sesha Joi Moon, was appointed by California Abby Spanberger last December to lead the office to help the new Governor’s progressive bonafides. We find it interesting that Dr Moon decided to clean up her official bio on the state website (HERE) and failed to mention she served as the “Chief Strategist” and “Chief Brand Strategist” for Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett. Notably Moon worked closely with Representative Crockett when Crockett was appointed as a National Campaign Co-chair for the Kamala Harris for President campaign.
She does mention the “Crockett Connection” on her bio as a director at The JXN Project HERE. The Richmond Magazine recently interviewed Moon about The JXN Project and how phase two would need $3.5 million raised (HERE). Does JXN receive state funding and is this a conflict of interest serving in both positions?

In the 7th Congressional District Republican nomination race, Doug Ollivant continues to collect endorsements from past and present GOP legislators and local Republican Party leaders.
Doug received endorsements from former Congressman Frank Wolf, State Senator Bryce Reeves, House of Delegates members Karen Hamilton (photo above with the candidate) and Phil Scott, and former Delegate, famous podcaster and friend of SUVGOP, Nick Freitas in the last couple of weeks.
Let’s retire the far-left Democrat Eugene Vindman!
| Geary Higgins is an experienced Loudoun County Republican leader and has served our community in many elected positions. Geary is a former Loudoun County School Board member, former member of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors, 10th CD GOP Chairman and former Virginia Delegate for District 30. AROUND NOVA, THE COMMONWEALTH AND THE NATION
- FAIRFAX HOUSE DELEGATE PUSHES FOR MORE WEED SALES TO ENDANGER OUR CHILDREN AND….
- SUBMIT YOUR PHOTOS FOR THE CONGRESSIONAL TIME CAPSULE
| | |
Why does Fairfax County’s Delegate Paul Krizek want it easier for your children to get drugs?
Democrat Krizek (D), sponsored the House of Delegates version of the cannabis sales legislation. He’s pushing to make retail pot sales available throughout Virginia and is presently negotiating with Governor Spanberger to reverse her earlier veto.
Why? Because Democrats need more tax revenue, and like other Democrat-controlled states, they do not care about the damage to our society and impact on children.
Public health experts point to several documented societal costs. Primary concerns include rising rates of drug-induced psychosis among heavy users, higher incidences of cannabis-involved traffic fatalities, and elevated risks of addiction, particularly among youth and vulnerable populations.
Is Virginia ready to make that sacrifice for a few more tax dollars? Contact Delegate Krizek HERE and tell him not to sacrifice our children!

The Virginia Congressional delegation invites individuals across the Commonwealth to submit photographs to be considered for the Semiquincentennial Congressional Time Capsule. The delegation is collecting photographs that represent the many treasures Virginia has to offer in 2026 – whether they capture everyday life, natural landscapes, historic places, community events, local traditions, work or recreation. Selected photographs will be included in Virginia’s submission to the time capsule.
“From foundational ideas of freedom and opportunity born in our cities to the sacrifices made on our battlefields, Virginia has played a central role in America’s history,” said the delegation. “This time capsule is a wonderful opportunity for Virginians to show off the Commonwealth 250 years into our nation’s journey, and to offer those in the year 2276 a glimpse of Virginia and America during the nation’s semiquincentennial.”
Photographs can be digitally submitted here.
Photographs must be submitted by Friday, June 12, 2026, to be considered.
As part of Congress’s efforts to celebrate the USA’s 250th birthday, the Semiquincentennial Congressional Time Capsule Act directs the Architect of the Capitol (AOC) to create and prepare a Congressional time capsule to be sealed in the Capitol Visitor Center. The capsule will serve as a snapshot in time and will be buried after preparations are complete. Each state and territory delegation is allowed one jointly decided submission. The capsule will be opened on the nation’s 500th anniversary, July 4, 2276.

The mission of the Suburban Virginia Republican Coalition (SUVGOP) is to support Republican candidates and causes rooted in the fundamental, kitchen-table concerns that matter most to voters in Virginia’s suburban communities – family, vocation, community, and faith.
We believe that the Republican Party’s longstanding championship of limited government makes it best suited to lead in the Commonwealth by ensuring that government at all levels — city, county, state, and national — stays focused on its core functions and performs these activities effectively and in a fiscally responsible manner.
We seek to engage suburban voters across Virginia to promote Republican solutions to their concerns. We share these concerns — from taxes, to transportation, to education, to keeping our neighborhoods and schools safe, to rising health care costs, to cultivating a positive civic culture. We want our neighbors to know that the Republican Party cares about the issues most important to them and has thoughtful and innovative approaches to these issues.
We support policies and leadership at all levels of government that reflect America’s great history, entrepreneurial spirit, and commitment to freedom.
We, the members of the Suburban Virginia Republican Coalition, are Republicans of all ages and backgrounds, united by a commitment to collaboration and dedicated to ensuring that our communities are the best places possible for ourselves, our children, and our grandchildren. Join us today!
