Public Notice – Official Call for Republican Party Canvass
Pursuant to The Plan of Organization (the “Party Plan”) of the Republican Party of Virginia (RPV), the Bylaws (the “Bylaws”) of the Fauquier County Republican Committee (the “County Committee”), and in accordance with the rules adopted by the County Committee on the 3rd day of February, 2026, in conformity with the Party Plan and the Bylaws, I, Hugh F. T. Hoffman III, Chairman of the County Committee, do hereby issue this Official Call for a Republican Party Canvass to be conducted in the County of Fauquier on Saturday the 28th day of March, 2026.
Purposes of the Canvass
- Electing up to 920 Delegates and an equal number of Alternates to the Tenth Congressional District Convention to be held on April 18, 2026 (registration 8:30 AM, convention starts 10:00 AM) for:
- a) Electing a Chairman for the Tenth Congressional District of the Republican Party of Virginia; and
- b) The transaction of such other business as may properly come before the convention.
- The election of 187 Precinct members, 56 At-Large members, and a Chairman of the Fauquier County Republican Unit Committee.
Qualifications for Participation
All legal and qualified voters of Fauquier County, Virginia, regardless of race, religion, national origin or sex, who are in accord with the principles of the Republican Party and who, if requested, express in open meeting either orally or in writing as may be required their intent to support all of its nominees for public office in the ensuing election, and that they have not participated in Virginia in the nomination process of a party other than the Republican Party in the last five (5) years but, if they have, renounce affiliation with any other party, may participate as members of the Republican Party of Virginia in this Canvass. A person who has made application for registration as a voter in Fauquier County and meets the requirements set forth above, but whose name does not appear on the local registration books solely because the books having been closed in connection with the local election, will nevertheless be deemed a legal and qualified voter.
Pre-Filing Requirements & Fees
Any candidate must file a declaration of candidacy and petition (form below) with mandatory non-refundable fees:
- Delegate to 10th Congressional District Convention – $25.00
- Committee Chairman – $250.00
- At-Large Member (56 seats) – $45.00
- Precinct Member (187 seats) – $35.00

Election Details
The canvass/election will be held at Fauquier High School, 705 Waterloo Road, Warrenton, VA (or alternate site) on Saturday, March 28, 2026 from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
If candidates are unopposed, they may be declared winners and the canvass cancelled (per RPV Party Plan).
