Tax Reductions Under Youngkin Have Been Significant
According to an article written by Thomas Jefferson Institute for Public Policy, appearing at the link above, Virginians have seen “significant” tax breaks under Governor Youngkin.
“Governor Glenn Youngkin (R) and the legislators of both parties who have given him at least some of the tax reforms he asked for need to stop being shy and take a real victory lap. He has been in office less than two years and has diverted $5 billion from tax coffers back to Virginia’s citizens so far, with more to come in 2024 and beyond.
Most of that was approved by the 2022 General Assembly and is now in effect for a second full tax year, but the 2023 General Assembly just sweetened the pot. The long-delayed budget compromise approved September 6th added more than $1 billion in single-shot refunds and long-term tax cuts.”

Governor Youngkin’s Proclamation – Juneteenth (2023)
By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:
Juneteenth
WHEREAS, on January 1, 1863, President Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, declaring that “all persons held as slaves within any State or designated part of a State, the people whereof shall then be in rebellion against the United States, shall be then, thenceforward, and forever free;” and
WHEREAS, President Lincoln correctly believed that slavery was a violation of the principles of the Declaration of Independence and that its abolition represented a “new birth of freedom” for the United States; and
WHEREAS, on June 19, 1865, two-and-a-half years after President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation, Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas with news that the Civil War was over and that the enslaved were now free; and
WHEREAS, the following year, the first official Juneteenth celebrations took place in Texas and have continued throughout the United States over the years making it the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the end of slavery; and
WHEREAS, Juneteenth celebrations take place annually throughout the Commonwealth and the nation to include readings of the Emancipation Proclamation, prayer and worship services, cultural performances, community service events and other meaningful observances; and
WHEREAS, citizens of the Commonwealth are encouraged to honor the great strides African Americans have made and to learn, unite, and celebrate as we continue to work to create a more perfect union;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize June 19, 2023, as JUNETEENTH in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of our citizens.

Attorney General Miyares led a coalition of 23 States in filing an amicus brief in Florida v. Mayorkas, supporting the State of Florida’s lawsuit against the Biden Administration’s unlawful immigration policy, creating a dangerous crisis at our southern border. Rather than detaining illegal immigrants as the law requires, the Biden Administration has released those cited at the border into the United States. This policy flagrantly violates federal immigration law and encourages immigrants to try and cross the border illegally, hoping to be released into the interior. |

Attorney General Miyares Leads 23 State Coalition Against Biden Administration’s Unlawful Immigration Policy
RICHMOND, VA – Yesterday Attorney General Miyares led a coalition of 23 States in filing an amicus brief in Florida v.
Since taking office, President Biden has seen an illegal immigration explosion of more than 5.5 million, larger than the population of 28 states. The Administration has released more than a million immigrants it encountered at the border into the interior. The Administration’s policy of “catch and release” rather than detaining them has not only encouraged more illegal immigration, but also dangerous criminal activity like fentanyl smuggling and human trafficking, both of which have exacted a terrible toll on this country.
“America is a decent and noble country that allows more legal immigration than any other nation on the planet. We welcome them with open arms – because they have gone through the process legally and they understand we are indeed the Last Best Hope on Earth. However, the Biden Administration’s failure in leadership at the border has led to an explosion of human trafficking, drug trafficking and exploitation of the most vulnerable,” said Attorney General Miyares.
“The Biden’s Administration immigration policy started this crisis, and it has already been deemed illegal by a federal court. No rebranding attempt can change its impact on states and communities nationwide.”
Attorney General Miyares’ brief was joined by the following states: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
